What’s Outside and At The Markets: Early to Mid October Harvest Season

As soon as you step outside, the colors of fall in New York greet you—rich oranges, warm browns, deep reds, and pops of vibrant purples and greens are everywhere.

The season’s beauty is on full display, not just in the changing leaves but also in the market, where aisles are brimming with fresh, colorful flowers and produce, offering an abundance of autumn’s finest.

Here are some of the lovelies I’ve experienced so far:

FALL PICTURE ONE:

🍁 Me, standing in front of an abundance of aster flowers. Purple, white, pink — there are asters everywhere in NYC right now! There are hundreds of aster flowers native to North America.

🍁 Black viola flowers I brought from Terrain at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (featuring my geraniums which still smell lovely and have been blooming all summer).

🍁 Tomatos at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket.

FALL PICTURE TWO:

🍁 Me, holding a beautiful dying leaf at Greenwood Cemetery.

🍁 A fall bouquet of sunflowers, and marigold at other flowers at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket.

🍁 Bee on a flower. Still a lot of bee and flower sightings.

I’ve been capturing so much of the season’s abundance and it brings me joy. Grateful for all of the season’s harvest. Such a feast for our eyes and stomachs!
